World Malaria Day at RHTC, AMU
Aligarh : Faculty members and resident doctors of the Department of Community Medicine, Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College (JNMC), Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) raised awareness on the vector borne, Malaria disease to mark the ‘World Malaria Day’ on the theme, ‘Harness Innovation to Reduce the Malaria Disease Burden and Save Lives’ at the Rural Health Training Centre (RHTC), Jawan.
“Residents of Jawan and nearby areas were provided with useful information on early diagnosis and treatment of malaria and an understanding on malaria prevention, causes and symptoms”, said Prof Saira Mehnaz (Chairperson, Department of Community Medicine).
Dr Uzma Eram stressed that the idea behind this awareness programme is to make people of rural areas understand that malaria is treatable and its symptoms can be sublimed through correct medication, but one must take the necessary preventive measures to avoid catching this disease altogether.
Dr Tabassum Nawab counseled people on malaria prevention and early diagnosis.
Resident doctors Dr Asra Saqib, Dr Jubair Shamsi, Dr Quyamuddin, Dr Absar Ahmad, Dr Sameena Ahmad, Dr Jalaluddin, Dr Shahnawaz Ahmad and Dr Fazeelah Tasleem answered queries of people and spoke on diagnostic tests, vaccines, drugs and effective treatment methods.
The Department of Community Medicine interns displayed posters and charts on malaria treatment and prevention.
