World Plastic Surgery Day Celebrated

Aligarh : The plastic and reconstructive surgery week under the aegis of the Department of Plastic Surgery, J.N. Medical College, Aligarh Muslim University concluded with the celebration of the World Plastic Surgery Day on 15th July. Dr. Subodh Kumar Singh, President elect APSI was the chief guest of the event.

In his welcome address Dr. M.F. Khurram, Chairperson, Department of Plastic Surgery gave an insightful presentation encompassing a great deal of knowledge about plastic surgery and its contribution to society. There was a showcasing of a documentary curated and compiled by the Senior Residents of the Department, showing follow-up patients who have benefitted in a life-changing manner after being operated by the Plastic Surgeons of J.N. Medical College Hospital, AMU in recent years.

The Chief Guest Dr. Subodh Kumar Singh enlightened the audience by his expertise in cleft lip and palate treatment, burns and reconstructive surgeries.

Dr. Singh highlighted his commitment to comprehensive cleft care. As Director of G S Memorial Hospital, Varanasi, his leadership has shaped global standards in cleft lip and palate treatment, burns and reconstructive surgeries. His impactful work has been recognised internationally through accolades such as Oscar winning documentary ‘Smile Pinki’ and national geographic AIB award winning ‘Burned Girl’.

During the programme, dignitaries such as Professor A.H. Khan, Professor L.M. Barriar, Professor M. Yaseen, and staff from the OPD, OT complexes and Emergency Trauma Centre were felicitated.

Dr. Akanksha and Dr. Fahad, Senior Residents of the Department shared their experiences.

Dr. S. Sarfraz Ali delivered a vote of thanks. Dr Kriti Shekhar conducted the Program.
