World Skill Center Hosts 4th Graduation Ceremony 21 Meritorious Students in 7 Trades Awarded Medals

- Nano Unicorn Program Launched
Bhubaneswar : The fourth graduation ceremony of World Skill Center, a state of the art global skilling facility established by the state government was held in Bhubaneswar. Hon’ble Minister of Industries, Skill Development and Technical Education Department Shri Sampad Chandra Swain attended the program as the chief guest and congratulated the students who completed their training in 2023-24 Batch.
On this occasion, Hon’ble Minister inaugurated the Center of Excellence in Welding at the World Skill Center (WSC) premises. Similarly, the ‘Nano Unicorn’ program, implemented to promote various entrepreneurs at the grass roots level was launched by the Minister. Each ‘Nano Unicorn’ will be given a seed money of Rs 1 Lakh for setting up their enterprise.
“Under the state government’s ‘Skilled In Odisha’ vision, skill development programs for the youth are being augmented to help them realise their potential. Various programs are being undertaken to help the youth succeed in the field of innovation. Initiatives like setting up centers of excellence in welding and nano unicorns will help in upskilling the youth of Odisha and inculcate entrepreneurial spirit in them,” said Hon’ble Minister Shri Sampad Chandra Swain.
The graduation ceremony was organized on Monday at the World Skill Center campus. The best students from each course under School of Engineering and School of Services were selected and awarded as ‘Best Trainee’. In addition, certificates were given to all the students who completed the 1-year advanced training in 7 trades.
Gold, Silver and Bronze medals were awarded to students who secured the first, second and third positions respectively in each trade at the World Skill Center. Similarly, 21 students were honored on the stage.
Shri NBS Rajput, Principal Secretary, Department of Skill Development and Technical Education joined the program as a special guest and motivated the students on building a successful career for themselves. “Today, the youth of Odisha are getting placements with national and international companies after receiving industry ready training in various cutting-edge subjects at the World Skill Center. 100% placement success in vertical transportation course is a shining example of the same. In the coming days, the government is coming up with various programs to take the skills of the youth to new heights,” said Shri Rajput.

On the occasion, Smt Rashmita Panda, CEO of Odisha Skill Development Authority and World Skill Center, gave the welcome address and wished the departing students good luck. In the end, Shri T Thambyrajah, Principal World Skill Center proposed the vote of thanks.
Students completing training in various advanced & industry ready courses World Skill Center get employment opportunities in various national and international level companies through placement programs. Senior officers of major companies attended the graduation ceremony as guests.

Under the State Government’s ‘Skilled in Odisha’ program, World Skill Center has been set up by Odisha Skill Development Authority and Department of Skill Development and Technical Education. This global and industry-leading state-of-the-art training institute is recognized as a unique facility in the country in the domain of skill development among youth, thereby strengthening the vision of a Viksit Odisha.
