Weather Risk Management Services (WRMS), a pioneer in smart and sustainable farming in India, appoints Sarathy S. Srinivas as Head – International Business. In his new role, he will head the international business tie-ups for the company’s risk management vertical. Using his expertise, he will provide strategic direction to the company’s risk management and regulatory services that help financial institutions, insurers, and corporates understand, quantify, and manage their risk associated with weather – earthquakes, hurricanes, floods, and other weather events – and crop yields. This appointment will be a significant catalyst for WRMS’ future growth and customer centricity in the overseas market.

Sarathy is a micro and digital insurance expert with over 15 years’ experience in the insurance and technology sectors. He has steered a wide range of innovative micro insurance programs across the globe in his decade long journey at MicroEnsure and most recently as SVP – Strategic Partnerships at MIC Global. Sarathy will accelerate WRMS’ ongoing journey by enabling new international opportunities and partnerships with local partners, multilateral organisations and (re)insurers.

Anuj Kumbhat, Founder & CEO, WRMS, said, “Sarathy brings in a wealth of experience and best practices from different geographies which makes him the perfect candidate for this position. We are delighted to welcome such a remarkable leader amongst us.” He further added, “With Sarathy’s knowledge and credentials, we look forward to expanding and diversifying our worldwide footprint and accelerate WRMS’s transformation to operating with a truly global approach.”

Speaking on his appointment, Sarathy S. Srinivas, said, “I am excited to be joining WRMS to solve for, arguably, the most vulnerable community: smallholder farmers. Farmers have historically borne the brunt of risk, exacerbated by recent climate and supply chain shocks. WRMS is a pioneer in agriculture and parametric risk protection backed by a brilliant team, cutting edge technology and a burning desire to make a difference. I am certainly looking forward to driving the continued growth of WRMS’s international business and strengthening the company’s international operations across the globe.”

Sarathy will provide strategic direction to the company’s international growth and build local and international partnerships to amplify WRMS’ core mission to promote sustainable agriculture. On academic front, Sarathy holds a Bachelor degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from National Institute of Technology Tiruchirappalli.
