XLRI hosted ‘Distinguished Alumni Awards Ceremony’

Jamshedpur: XLRI- Xavier School of Management recently hosted ‘Distinguished Alumni Awards Ceremony’ to felicitate its illustrious alumni on the occasion of ‘Annual Alumni Homecoming 2019’. This year 9 distinguished alumni of the institute received the Distinguished Alumnus Awards in 5 categories.

The two-day long celebration of XLRI’s ‘Annual Alumni Homecoming 2019’ held on 14th – 15th December, 2019. This year, XLRI has celebrated the Annual Homecoming for the 17th year. Over 250 XL Alumni participated in this year’s Homecoming held at XLRI Campus, Jamshedpur.

The highlight of XLRI Annual Alumni Homecoming, the ‘Distinguished Alumnus Awards Ceremony’ was hosted at the Tata Auditorium, XLRI Campus. Fr. P. Christie S.J., Director, XLRI; Mr. Rana Sinha, President of the XLRI Alumni Association and Prof. Pranabesh Ray, Chairperson, Alumni, XLRI were also present on the occasion.

 This year’s Homecoming saw reunion of the batches of 1979 and 1969 celebrate their 40th and 50th homecoming year respectively. Many alumni of Batch of 1971 also participated in this year’s celebrations.

Commenting on the Annual Alumni Homecoming, Fr. P. Christie S.J., Director, XLRI said, “The Annual Homecoming is one of the most prestigious and important events for XLRI. Our alumni are the torch-bearers of the XL-Culture and have taken the vision and mission of XLRI to the world. They are the true role models for our present and future students and are the ones who truly inspire them to carry forward their legacy. It is a proud moment for us to welcome them back to the campus and felicitate them for their achievements.”

 Mr. Rana Sinha, President, XLRI Alumni Association said, “XLRI can claim to have the most active networking of Alumni amongst Indian Business Schools. Every year the alumni chapters have their get-togethers in cities across India and abroad. This year, we celebrated Alumni Summer Meets in different cities like Chennai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Bengaluru and also in Dubai and Singapore. In earlier years, alumni meets were also held in various cities in USA, Dubai and Toronto. In 2008 we had created the XLRI Endowment Fund (XEF) and today XEF USA is a registered non-profit association”.  

 Prof. Pranabesh Ray, Chairperson – Alumni, XLRI commented, “Homecoming is the annual XL family get-together that strengthens our XL bond and fosters camaraderie amongst us. It revives the family spirit. Our alumni meet their old acquaintances, classmates and teachers and reminisces memorable experiences they have had at XLRI.”

XLRI Alumni Association has Alumni Chapters both in India and abroad. In India, the XLRI Alumni Chapters are in Bangalore, Delhi, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Mumbai, and Pune. XLRI also has Alumni Chapters in Singapore and Dubai. In U.S.A. it has chapters in San Jose (covering Bay Area), Dallas (covering the State of Texas), Washington DC, New Jersey, New York, Boston (covering New England), Chicago (covering mid-west region), as well as in Toronto (Canada).
