Yasha Mudgal tours Baramulla, inspects construction of Kissan Ghar at Tangmarg
Baramulla: Secretary, Cooperative Department, Yasha Mudgal, today said that various initiatives are being taken up to strengthen cooperative societies to explore more and more livelihood opportunities for the people.
‘There is a dire need to harness immense potential of Self Help Groups (SHGs) towards welfare centric activities as these groups can ameliorate the socio-economic conditions at the local level”, she maintained.
Yasha Mudgal said this during her visit to Tangmarg area of Baramulla district conducted to take stock of construction work on ‘Kissan Ghar’ being established under the centrally sponsored Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (RKVY).
She was accompanied by Registrar Cooperative Societies, J&K Shafqat Iqbal and other senior functionaries of the department.
Highlighting the role of various stakeholders, Secretary said that cooperatives has a lot of scope and it can directly impact the lives of the people. She said that agricultural loans on soft terms are being extended to our farmers by the commercial cooperative banks. She urged upon the people to come forward and reap the benefits of various welfare programmes sponsored by the department.
Meanwhile, Secretary was informed that the project is being executed at an estimated cost of Rs. 110.18 lakh which has been conceptualized for organizing awareness camps, seminars, training programmes, conferences and other related activities which aimed at dissemination of latest techniques in all fields of primary sector including agriculture, horticulture and their allied fields.
