Young Scientists Honored with Governor’s Award for Contributions to Science at the Ural Federal University
11 representatives of the Ural Federal University were awarded the Prize of the Governor of the Sverdlovsk Region for Young Scientists. Six of them received the award as employees of the UrFU, and five as representatives of institutes of the Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Science. The winners received diplomas and 200 thousand rubles for the development of research projects. The award ceremony took place in the Demidov Hall of the university.
Tatyana Svalova, Associate Professor of the Department of Analytical Chemistry at UrFU, was awarded “For the best work in the field of inorganic and organic chemistry”. The results of the scientist’s work will be useful for medical diagnostics.
“We have developed devices that can be used in medical diagnostics, quality control of food and environmental objects. The developments are based on the unique ability of molecules to selectively “recognize” and interact with certain components of the samples being analyzed. Biosensors will enable rapid and accurate detection of diseases, toxins and some food additives outside of laboratory conditions,” explains Tatiana Svalova.
Other winners include Vladimir Belyaev (“For the best work in mathematics”), Dmitry Rasposienko (“For the best work in materials science and mechanical engineering”), Evgenia Komleva (“For the best work in theoretical physics”), Yulia Kuznetsova (“For the best work in experimental physics”), Dmitry Nikitin (“For the best work in technical sciences”), Kseniya Lugovaya (“For the best work in metallurgy and metal science”), Daria Diyarova (“For the best work in general biology”), Polina Solodovnikova (“For the best work in environmental protection and rational nature management”), Kseniya Kunnikova (“For the best work in pedagogical and psychological sciences”), Lyubov Mashtakova (“For the best work in humanities”).
