Youth For Anti Corruption(YAC) – YAC Volunteers delivering medicines to the patients in AP & Telangana States during #LOCKDOWN
Hyderabad: In a noble gesture and identifying the potential ground for public service, a group of youth has come forwarded to help deliver medicines to the needy people during lock down period.
Youth for Anti-Corruption (YAC) has been very actively working against corruption across both Telugu states for nearly a decade. Volunteers of YAC have found that there was a gap in this area of public service. They started to trace out the people who were in need of medicines and started delivering medicines with the help of thousands of volunteers associated with YAC.
Currently they are working in several districts of Telangana and extensively in Hyderabad delivering medicines to the bed ridden patients, physically challenged and children. YAC members came to know about this inevitable problem through social media. Some people have sought help from the NGOs and social groups to provide medicines to their dear ones living some miles away and this is how YAC volunteers came to know about this issue.
The joy and tremendous gratitude that is being shown by the people who were given medicine in time is proving the catalyst and boost for the members of YAC and they are expanding their work in delivering medicines from one place to other.
A Central University professor who lives in Hitech City was worried about transporting medicines to his diabetic mother residing in Boduppal. He posted his helplessness on Face Book. Somebody tagged YAC to his post eventually he contacted the volunteers. The medicines were handed over to volunteers who in turn delivered the medicine to the patient using a chain method. The professor was overwhelmed and thanked the volunteers from the bottom of his heart.
In a similar incident, a person from Gulf called up and informed that his five year son needs medicine who was a ENT patient. Medicines were to be bought from Jubilee Hills and to be delivered to Chilkur temple. Volunteers swung into action and within hours the medicines were delivered. The family was thanked the volunteers and said that they will never forget this help.
A retired Collector who was residing alone needed medicine. He called up his daughter living in abroad. She searched in social media for any kind of helping groups and came to know about YAC. She contacted the volunteers and medicines were delivered.
Because of lock down, the transport facilities are reduced almost completely and this has led to panic among patients who need medications on a regular basis. Thalassemia patients, diabetics, physically challenged and children would be in constant need of medicines and lock down has doubled their trouble. In this back drop YAC youth are proving to be angels of hope delivering the medicines to needy people.
Speaking about these experiences, YAC founder Palnati Rajendra said that they would continue their services until the lock down is not lifted. He said that this is the time when people need this kind of help. “The gratitude in the eyes of patients while receiving the medicine is unforgettable and precious”, he said.
He said that so far volunteers are distributing the medicines over bikes but now arrangements are in place to deliver the medicines to different districts in Telangana where YAC volunteers are working.
Corona is a real danger but patients who are on constant medication should also be taken care of, he added.
Extending their services in the medical field YAC volunteers have donated blood during the camp organized by Red Cross Society in Hyderabad on Sunday.
