Aligarh : Taking a cue from Ann Landers’ quotation; ‘Blessed are those who can hold lively conversations with the helplessly mute, for they shall be called dentists,’, Dr Pankaj Kharnde (Department of Prosthodontics, Dr ZA Dental College, AMU) addressed a training session at 24th Indian Prosthodontics Society National Convention at SDM Institute, Dharwad. He cited several evidence-based clinical treatment modalities regarding Prosthetic rehabilitation of complex orbital defects secondary to surgical treatment of head-neck cancer and extensive oral mucormycosis.

Dr Panakaj suggested that the Prosthetic treatment of complex racial defects helps to reinstate the psychological status of these patients, in support he mentioned about one published clinical trial completed along with his colleagues where pre and post treatment psychological status assessment of patients treated with prosthetic rehabilitation was done.

Dr Kharade drew attention towards cost effective treatment options for prosthetic rehabilitation of orbital defects associated with intra-oral defects.

He was felicitated by Dr V Rangarajan, President of Indian Prosthodontic Society and Dr Jangala Hari, Secretary of Indian Prosthodontic Society on the occasion.
