Zhejiang University gives 2020’s glance
2020 is undoubtedly a difficult year for most of us. The ZJU community, however, was quick to respond to the challenges and uncertainties posed by the coronavirus pandemic.
Earlier this year, more than 500 ZJU medics joined the battle in Wuhan, where the coronavirus outbreak first emerged. With the front-line experiences, a handbook on the prevention and treatment of Covid-19 was later compiled and spread to over 230 countries and regions.
Meanwhile, the University remained resilient by adopting a combination of online and offline approaches to learning, research, engagement and administrative services. The spring quarter started as scheduled in February with over 5,000 courses shifted online. Empowered by digital technology, faculty, students and staff adjusted quickly to virtual meetings and exchanges jointly developed with ZJU partner institutions. As much as the virus distances people, communications technology and a shared commitment to human welfare have brought us closer together.
While continuing to advance research to address big problems facing the humanities, ZJU is ready to celebrate some notable accomplishments. Here is a roundup of the compelling stories from the year.
