Zhejiang University: Research collaboration between SAHZU and Mass General Brigham kicks off

The lecture kicked off the exchange and collaboration in clinical research between SAHZU and Mass General Brigham (MGB), one of the United States’ leading biomedical research organizations and a principal teaching affiliate of Harvard Medical School.

More top researchers from Mass General Brigham hospitals will share with SAHZU their first-hand clinical research experience every month in the following year, with topics ranging from multicenter randomized controlled trial to real world scenario.

This monthly lecture series in clinical research is only the initial step between SAHZU and Mass General Brigham. A Mass General Brigham advisory board will be established to provide advice and consultation to SAHZU researchers on a regular basis. It is hoped that the two sides could jointly search for the best clinical research solutions.

The goal of clinical research is to address clinical questions and to benefit patients. We believe that each and every SAHZU doctor attending the lecture series would be able to think deeply about the problems they encountered in their clinical work, and acquire a better understanding of clinical research,” Head of SAHZU Prof. WANG Jian’an commented the collaboration. “We truly hope that more SAHZU doctors could grow to be physician scientists, to solve the unsolvable and answer the unanswerable.”

SAHZU and Mass General Brigham signed a research collaboration agreement in February this year, to advise and support SAHZU’s efforts to advance its research programs, as well as provide advanced education and training. The partnership consists of virtual education sessions with world leading experts from Mass General Hospital and other Mass General Brigham hospitals to share best practices and protocols to design effective research studies.

Mass General Brigham is a non-profit organization that is committed to patient care, research, teaching, and service to the community. In addition, Mass General Brigham is one of the United States’ leading biomedical research organizations and a principal teaching affiliate of Harvard Medical School that includes Massachusetts General Hospital, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Mass Eye and Ear, McLean Hospital and Spaulding Rehabilitation.

As a world-recognized leader in research, Mass General Brigham is home to one of the largest hospital system-based research enterprises in the U.S., with an annual research budget of nearly $2 billion. Currently, there are over 2700 ongoing clinical trials, to accelerate bringing new treatments and therapies to our patients and the world.

Mass General Brigham has a history of pushing the boundaries of medicine and leading innovative science and research for over 200 years. With patients at the center, our hospitals are committed to advancing health and wellness around the world.
