Zhejiang University: Zhejiang University welcomes incoming postgraduates from across China and the world

Zhejiang University held the Opening Assembly for new postgraduates on Zijingang Campus on September 16. The ceremony was conducted in both in-person and virtual format. The newest cohort of postgraduate students will embark on their new journey of chasing dreams in Qiushi Yard.



President WU Zhaohui extended his warm welcome to incoming postgraduate students, urging them to bear in mind the country’s most fundamental interests, gain insights into the future, and become researchers with a strong sense of mission. “I hope that you will carry forward the spirit of universities, develop remarkable skills, and become accomplished researchers with character and conscience,” he said.



He also encouraged them to adhere to the high standards of students and scholars, take the lead, and lead a fulfilling life.



CAE Fellow WANG Jian spoke on behalf of alumni. “We are witnessing major changes unfolding in today’s world, something unseen in a century. In the face of the challenges of the times, you should possess your unique spirit to make contributions to mankind, embrace the innovation from null to zero, and strive for the breakthrough from zero to one, thereby adding the wisdom and power of ZJUers to the road of building China into a world power in science and technology,” said WANG Jian.



Academicians and senior professors of liberal arts also sent a message to incoming students through a video, hoping that they will inherit the spirit of “seeking truth and pursuing innovation” and undertake the mission of the times. In addition, the 125-year journey of Zhejiang University was also unfolded through the narratives of faculty and students.

We believe that in the not-too-distant future, they will also shine in the starry galaxy of Zhejiang University.
