Application date extended by IFMR to assist CMAT and XAT applicants

The MBA (2018-20 batch) applications deadline for the General Round, have been extended by one week to 12th Feb 2018 by IFMR. “Both XAT and CMAT results have been delayed and hence this extension. Only applicants who meet our criteria and cut off should apply to IFMR, that is why we publish all our criteria in the FAQ section of our application portal”, says Prof. Suresh Venkatraman, Chairperson Admissions and faculty of Supply Chain and Operation management.
Last year XAT results were out on Jan and CMAT on 9th Feb (for the exam held on 28th and 29th Jan). This year CMAT was held on 20th Jan (one week earlier) and results were expected by now.
As of now, XAT and CMAT results are expected to be out by 10th February.
“We do not want prospective applicants to take their application decision without knowing whether they will qualify. On social media and many digital forums, our students have been advising applicants, that they can fill the form but not pay the application fee till they get their XAT/ CMAT percentiles and know that they have met our cut offs. Over 750 prospective managers have applied to IFMR’s Early Decision Round, and of these, 250 were invited for the selection process to be held in February”, added Prof. Suresh.

The Early Decision Round is a unique selection process at IFMR dedicated to those who are employed, and need to serve notice period. The selection process for the Early Decision Round is currently on and the results for this round will be declared before 1st March. Since IFMR’s MBA course starts on 1st June and the maximum notice period for any employed applicant is only 3 months, this Early Decision Round solves that problem for the applicant. This concept introduced last year by IFMR, was highly appreciated by students’ community as for the applicant it is a win-win situation. If an applicant drops out and if at any point after paying the first installment fees (Rupees Three Lakh) but before the last week of May, withdraw the admission, only rupees one thousand is deducted and the balance is returned.
“In spite of this date extension, we will complete our General Round selection within March and declare the merit list by mid-April”, says Prof. Suresh, “Because we want applicants to have enough time to apply for loan, and otherwise make preparations to attend our course. Also there are many employed applicants in the General Round who need to fulfil notice period”.
