2 day Mushroom cultivation training concludes at SKUAST-Jammu
Jammu: An impressive function was today held here at Mushroom Unit, Division of Plant Pathology, SKUAST-Jammu to mark the culmination of two day training programme on mushroom cultivation.
The training programme was held for the scheduled caste farmers of the Jammu district under the SCSP programme of the All India Coordinated Mushroom Improvement Project.
Vice Chancellor of SKUAST-J, Dr. J.P. Sharma, who was the chief guest on the occasion, impressed upon the farmers to form Farmers Producer Organization of the mushroom growers to avail the maximum benefits of various government schemes.
Director Research, Dr. Jagpaul Sharma, who was the guest of honour, emphasized upon the trainees to adopt round the year mushroom cultivation for nutritional security and livelihood.
Dr. Bikram Singh, Dean, Faculty of Agriculture, who was the special guest, laid emphasis upon the farmers to motivate youth and farm women to take up mushroom cultivation as a reliable source of self sustenance and livelihood.
Battery operated Spray pumps, Spawn, Polybags were distributed among the farmers to encourage them to take up mushroom cultivation as an enterprise.
Dr. Rakesh Sharma gave practical demonstrations to the trainees. Proceedings of the training programme were conducted by Dr. Sachin Gupta, Associate Professor and Principal Investigator, AICRP on Mushrooms.
