20th Edition of IGBC’s Green Building Congress 2022 organized in Hyderabad

Hyderabad:   The Indian Green Building Council (IGBC), a part of the CII, in its efforts to further advance the Green Building Movement in the country, is organizing the 20th edition of the Green Building Congress 2022 at Hyderabad International Convention Centre (HICC) from 20 – 22 October 2022. The Green Building Congress 2022 – India’s Annual Flagship event on Green Built Environment is themed ‘Advancing Net Zero Buildings & Built-Environment’, an attempt to further sensitize various stakeholders to join the Green Building Movement and deliberate and prepare a roadmap to achieve Net Zero emissions by 2070 in India.

 

According to Mr. Gurmit Singh Arora, Chairman – Indian Green Building Council The IGBC Green Building Congress 2022 is one of Asia’s biggest events, with more than 100 speakers, 3000 delegates, and several other stakeholders anticipated to attend. The exhibition will feature a variety of green building initiatives and focus on issues including climate change, transitioning to net zero energy, water waste, and carbon in towns. The exhibition stressed alternative energy systems, net zero homes, the health and well-being of commercial buildings and residential homes, as well as the decarbonization of buildings in India. Due to the in-depth discussion of a variety of research papers and the value added to the participating businesses, the event will also be beneficial to students with an architecture background.”

 

Adding to this he said, ” Along with Net Zero, the focus is also on people and their well-being. On this objective, the Indian Green Building Council is collaborating with a number of stakeholders, including the state and federal governments, NGOs, and bilateral and international organisations, including the World GBC. IGBC, a division of CII, is playing a catalyst role in leading the country’s green building movement which aims to lay out a roadmap to achieving the goal of “Net Zero emissions by 2070”.

 

Adding to this Mr C Shekar Reddy, Chairman IGBC, Telangana and Co-chairman of Green Building Congress 2022 said, “The IGBC Green Building Congress is a gathering of architects, builders, developers, engineers, contractors, planners, consultants, corporate, government officials, green product manufacturers, procurement officials, project owners, IT companies, educational institutions, and technology providers. The historic 20th edition of the event will see more than 120 distinguished speakers presenting their views on a range of topics related to green buildings and the built environment. The Green Building Congress 2022 will be inaugurated by Shri Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu, Founding Chancellor of Rishihood University, Guest Professor of London School of Economics, Former Union Minister with 10 Portfolios, 6 Times Member of Parliament. Some of the prominent speakers would be Shri Lokesh Kumar D S, IAS, Municipal Commissioner, Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation, Shri Vikas Kumar, Managing Director, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation, Mr Arvind Subramanian, Managing Director & CEO, Mahindra Lifespace Developers Ltd, Mr George Menezes, Advisor Sustainability, Godrej & Boyce Mfg. Co. Ltd and Mr Sachin Kumar, Associate Director – Energy Efficiency Programme, Shakti Sustainable Energy Foundation.

The Congress will provide participants with a special opportunity to learn about global best practices in green buildings with the help of more than 20 international speakers who will be sharing their expertise. The building industry is currently leading the way in embracing and promoting green practices and technologies. This will go a long way toward solving ecological problems all at once. Sustainable building methods are being enthusiastically embraced by stakeholders. India is one of the top 3 countries in terms of the green building footprint, with over 8.30 billion square feet of green building footprint spanning over 8,450+ projects. There is mounting evidence that green buildings will improve tenants’ health and well-being in addition to preserving resources and improving efficiency of buildings.”

 

Adding to this Mr. K S Venkatagiri, Executive Director, CII – IGBC, said, “The three-day conference featured special sessions on green buildings, green products, and green building materials. In parallel, The Green Expo displayed cutting-edge technology, green products, and materials. Outstanding Green movement supporters have been honoured and recognised as part of the Green Building Congress 2022. For the past 15 years, IGBC has organised the IGBC Green Your School Program and IGBC Green Design Competition to educate the future generation and encourage them to think out of box and find practical solutions to improve the Green Eco-System.”

 

Adding to this Mr. M.
