832 students from SCs, STs, Denotified Nomadic, Semi-Nomadic Tribes selected under NOS scheme in past six years

The Centre on Tuesday informed that under the National Overseas Scholarship (NOS) scheme total 832 students from Scheduled Castes (SCs), Scheduled Tribes (STs), Denotified Nomadic, Semi-Nomadic Tribes and have been selected in the past six years.

In a written reply in the Lok Sabha the Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment Pratima Bhoumik said the NOS scheme is being implemented by Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment and Ministry of Tribal Affairs which provides annual scholarship to the students of marginalised section to pursue Masters or PhD courses in abroad.

The Minister said the Ministry of Tribal Affairs selects 20 students from Tribal Community for scholarship every year under the scheme.
