Jammu: National Lok Adalat decides 234 cases; Rs 36.41 Cr settled

Jammu: A National Lok Adalat was today held here in the District Court Complex, Janipur under the Chairmanship of Sanjeev Gupta, Chairman, District Legal Services Authority (Pr. District & Sessions Judge) Jammu and under the overall supervision of Naushad Ahmed Khan, Secretary District Legal Services Authority.

A total number of seven benches were constituted. The first bench, presided over by the Chairman DLSA (Pr. District & Sessions Judge) Jammu Sanjeev Gupta and assisted by Additional Anti-Corruption/Jammu, C.L. Bavoria, dealt with MACT and consumers Cases.

The second Bench, presided over by Additional District Judge Nighat Sultana, Bank cases, Jammu and assisted by 1st Addl. District & Sessions Judge Y.P Kotwal, and Secretary District Legal Services Authority, Naushad Ahmed Khan, dealt with Bank Cases.

The third Bench, headed by Special Judge Anti Corruption, Jammu, Y.P. Bourney, and assisted by 2nd Additional District & Sessions Judge, Jammu, Virinder Singh Bhou, dealt with Matrimonial and Civil Cases.

The fourth bench, headed by Sub-Judge Special Mobile Magistrate, Surjeet Singh Bali, and assisted by Municipal Magistrate Jammu, O.P Bhagat, dealt with Municipal and Revenue Cases.

The fifth bench, headed by Railway Magistrate, Jammu, Perveiz lqbal and Prem Sagar, City Judge Jammu, was assisted by Urvashi Raina, Munsiff, Jammu, dealt with Cases u/s 138 N.lAct cases and Criminal compoundable offences.

The sixth bench was presided over by Sub-Judge Electricity Magistrate, Jammu, Sudesh Sharma and assisted by Forest Magistrate, Jammu, Shabnam Sheikh, and Excise Magistrate, Jammu, Rajni Sharma, dealt with Electricity and Water cases.

The seventh bench was presided over by Special Mobile Magistrate, Passenger Tax Jammu, Sandeep Gandotra, assisted by Special Mobile Magistrate Traffic, Jammu, Dinesh Gupta, dealt with Civil Cases

In all 360 cases were taken up, out of which 234 cases were decided. A total of Rs. 36.41cr was settled in the Lok Adalat.

Lok Adalat Benches were also constituted at Tehsil Headquarters at Akhnoor, Bishnah, and R.S. Pura which were presided over by respective Chairman, Tehsil Legal Services Committees.
