ETU “LETI”: Preparing the Best International Applicants for Entering Russian Universities
ETU “LETI” entered a consortium to develop Russian education resource centers in Mongolia, Syria, Turkey, Bulgaria, Tajikistan, Moldova, and Kyrgyzstan. Employees of the university will prepare international applicants for admission to Russian universities and participate in talent selection. This activity will boost the prestige of Russian higher education, and attract more gifted international applicants who choose Russian universities consciously.
“ETU “LETI” has something to offer to resource centers abroad, having the experience of designing and participating in the project of Kudrovo Network Resource Center for Education Development, which opened in 2016 with the support of the Leningrad Oblast Government.”
Anastasia Minina, Vice-Rector for International Affairs of ETU “LETI”
Representatives of universities presented new opportunities for world-class education in Russia at the online Time to Study in Russia exhibition, which took place on December 17-18, 2020. At the opening ceremony of the event, Anastasia Minina, Vice-Rector for International Affairs of ETU “LETI,” and representatives of resource centers expressed their interest in working together to train and select talents for Russian universities.
At the exhibition, employees of the university’s International Student Office told the audience how to choose a future educational and career track and what opportunities ETU “LETI” offers to students. Applicants could visit virtual stands, take part in webinars, ask questions, and learn the latest changes in admission rules for the 2020/21 academic year from representatives of leading Russian universities.
“Today, as never before, it is important, despite all restrictions, to continue systematic work to prepare young people for a conscious choice of future profession and increase the motivation of students to work in the most advanced and in-demand areas of science and technology.”
Alexandra Kilina, Head of the Preparatory Department for International Students
Anastasia Minina also spoke at an international online conference dedicated to resource centers, held on December 22. She proposed to introduce project activities, conduct professional schools for both students and professionals, and improve the skills of teachers of resource centers in addition to the adapted training in school subjects.
Participants of the project discussed the experience of resource centers and development prospects for the next year at the online conference “Time to Learn in Russia” on December 22. Representatives of Russian universities, ministries, and agencies addressed issues of improving the effectiveness of center development and introducing innovative teaching methods in Russia and partner countries.
For reference
Resource centers of Russian education, designed to promote in-depth study of general education subjects in Russian, were created in five countries in 2019, and their number will increase to 50 by 2024. The consortium developing the initiative included seven universities, which produce educational programs, organize the educational process, and provide information and analytical support. In December 2020, three more participants, including ETU “LETI,” joined the project.
