DLSA Jammu holds Lok Adalat to settle MVD Act cases

Jammu : District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Jammu today held a Permanent Lok Adalat in the premises of District Court Complex, Janipur, Jammu to deal with the cases under Motor Vehicle Act, pending before the Motor Accidental Claim Tribunal, Jammu.

The Lok Adalat was held under the Chairmanship of Sanjeev Gupta, Chairman District Legal Services Authority (Pr. Distt. & Sessions Judge) Jammu.

A Bench comprising Principal District & Sessions Judge Jammu, Sanjeev Gupta, and Presiding Officer, MACT Jammu R.S. Jasrotia, took up 116 cases for settlements after holding Pre Lok Adalat Sessions for five days commencing from January 29, 2021 to Feb 4, 2021, in the court of Pr. Distt. & Session Judge, Jammu. The bench disposed of 46 cases, in the presences of Advocates, Representatives of the Insurance Companies and Advocates for the victims. An amount of Rs 2,69,14,000/-(Rupees Two Crore, Sixty Nine Lakhs and Fourteen Thousand only )was awarded as compensation to the victims.

The Next Permanent Lok Adalat is scheduled to be held in the premises of District Court Complex Janipur, Jammu on 25th of February 2021 with Pre Lok Adalat Sessions commencing from Feb 20, 2021 to Feb 24, 2021.
