ZHCET Online induction
Aligarh: Newly admitted B. Tech, B. Arch, B.E, M. Tech and M. Arch students of the Zakir Husain College of Engineering and Technology (ZHCET), Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) were welcomed in the virtual mode, with a three-week online ‘Induction Programme’.
In the welcoming remarks, Prof Pervez Mustajab (Dean, Faculty of Engineering and Technology) said that the objectives of an induction program are to build rapport between new students and faculty members and to speed up the acclimatisation of students to their new environment.
He urged students to inculcate good habits, build character and get industry-ready.
Giving an overview of the College of Engineering, Professor M M Sufyan Beg (Principal, ZHCET) advised students to make the best use of available facilities with sincerity.
He instructed the students about the ZHCET genesis, vision and mission and assured them of the accessibility of various support systems.
Prof Sufyan persuaded students to adapt the ‘Outcome Based Education’ to be equipped with the highest potential for facing challenges.
Prof Mujahid Beg (Dean Students Welfare) spoke on the comprehensive scholarship programs available for the students.
Prof Mohd Waseem Ali (Proctor) deliberated on the AMU Code of Conduct and law-and-order.
Delivering a talk on ‘Universal Human Values’, Prof Mohammad Kamil shed light on the positive aspects of value-based education and stressed the need for interdisciplinary approach; Prof I H Farooqui spoke on ‘Climate Change and Environmental Sustainability’; Prof Roomana Siddiqui (Department of Psychology) apprised the students on ‘Stress Management’; Prof M Rihan presented the vision of AMU founder, Sir Syed Ahmad Khan; Prof Mirza Asmer Beg (Department of Political Science) discussed ‘National Integration and Secularism’; Prof Abu Tariq (Chief Tabulator, R.P. Unit of the College) explained rules and regulations of various academic programmes; Prof Sarosh Umar briefed about the induction programme; Prof Malik Shoeb Ahmad (Incharge, College Library and Book Bank) informed the new students about the amenities at the College library and the Book Bank; Dr Shariq Aqeel (CMO University Health Service) made the students aware of the health facilities available at the campus; M Farhan Saeed (Training and Placement Officer, ZHCET) spoke on-campus placement drives and Dr Naushad Waheed Ansari talked about how meditation and Yoga helps to deal with problems.
