6 month Knitting, Cutting, Tailoring and Embroidery Training course begins at DIC Jammu

 

Jammu: A six month Knitting, Cutting & Tailoring and Embroidery Training course for rural women was today started here at District Industries Centre, Jammu to make them self-reliant.

The Course was inaugurated by General Manager, DIC Jammu Subah Mehta with a batch of 20 trainees. She highlighted the various initiatives undertaken by the DIC, Jammu towards empowering the women entrepreneurs, who she said become self-employed after passing out such Trainings.

The General Manager informed the trainees that after successful completion of training, they would helped by the Department to avail the loans under the Prime Minister Employment Generation Programme [PMEGP], which is to be extended through Banks to the extent of Rs 25.00 lakh for manufacturing sector and Rs 10.00 lakh for the service sectors, with a subsidy is ranging from 25% to 35%. She further motivated the women to become job creators rather than of job seekers. She advised the women to set up their own Training Centres, Boutique, Woolen Products and Embroidery Products after the completion of training. The mission is to inspire the next generation of makers through a reinvention of the Craft Experience, she added.

The inaugural session was attended by the Project Managers, Functional Managers and Instructors of DIC Jammu.
