Online training under the professional retraining program “Tour guide (guide)”
On April 13, online classes began on the additional professional professional retraining program “Guide (guide)”. The program is implemented by the Faculty of Advanced Studies and Professional Retraining of PetrSU, the Institute of Physical Culture, Sports and Tourism of PetrSU and the Institute of History, Political and Social Sciences of PetrSU.
The program is being implemented on the basis of an agreement with the autonomous non-profit organization “Center for the Development of Social Tourism” within the framework of the project “Unfamiliar War. Local History School” with the support of the Presidential Grants Fund.
The course program was developed by the teachers of the Department of Tourism of the Institute of Physical Culture, Sports and Tourism of PetrSU together with the specialists of the Faculty of Advanced Training and Professional Retraining of PetrSU in accordance with the professional standard “Tour guide (guide)”.
The main modules of the program are “Excursion management”, “Regional studies. History of Karelia”, “Development technology and methods of conducting an excursion”, “Educational practice”. The program provides for lectures and practical classes online, independent work of students using distance learning, counseling students using video conferencing, and the study of teaching materials. The independent activity of students involves the design, development and testing of excursions on the theme of the Soviet-Finnish war of 1939-1940.
The participants of the “Tour guide (guide)” program are guides from Petrozavodsk, Kalevala, Kondopozhsky, Lakhdenpohsky, Pitkyaranta and Suoyarvsky districts of the Republic of Karelia; employees of ANO “Center for the Development of Social Tourism” and teachers of the Department of Tourism of the Institute of Physical Culture, Sports and Tourism of PetrSU.
Teachers of the Tourism Department of the Institute of Physical Culture, Sports and Tourism of PetrSU, the Department of National History of the Institute of History, Political and Social Sciences of PetrSU, specialists of the National Museum of the Republic of Karelia, KarRC RAS, as well as famous local historians take part in the implementation of the “Tour Guide (Guide)” program.
Students who have successfully mastered the program and passed the final certification will receive diplomas of professional retraining, giving the right to professional activity in the field of “Tour guide (guide)”.
The first lecture was delivered by Doctor of Economics, Professor of the Tourism Department of the Institute of Physical Culture, Sports and Tourism of PetrSU, Chairman of the Regional Public Organization “Association of Guides and Guides-Translators of the Republic of Karelia”, full member of the National Academy of Tourism and the International Academy of Tourism Tamara Mikhailovna Glushanok.
