E.V. Shandalovich’s visit to the Medical Institute of PetrSU
The Medical Institute of Petrozavodsk State University was visited by the Chairman of the Legislative Assembly of the Republic of Karelia E.V. Shandalovich.
The purpose of the visit was to discuss a number of important issues in the development of social and medical complex rehabilitation measures for residents of the Republic of Karelia who have suffered a new coronavirus infection.
The discussion was attended by the director of the Medical Institute A.T. Balashov, Director of the Institute of Physical Culture, Sports and Tourism of PetrSU V.M. Kirilina, representatives of the Directorate of the Medical Institute.
E.V. Shandalovich emphasized that the urgency of the problem of rehabilitation of patients who have undergone COVID-19 is associated with a variety of clinical features of coronavirus infection, a variety of clinical variants and manifestations of COVID-19, the severity of postcoid complications and manifestations of adaptive changes in the human body after an infection. In accordance with the temporary methodological recommendations “Medical rehabilitation for new coronavirus infection” (COVID-19) (approved by the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation) Version 2 (07/31/2020), the experience gained in the process of monitoring the dynamics of the health status of patients after coronavirus infection, in The Republic of Karelia is taking measures to rehabilitate this group of patients. Director of the Medical Institute A.T. Balashov fully supported the initiative of E.V. Shandalovich, drawing attention to the particular importance and timeliness of updating this issue for the population of the Republic of Karelia. The participation of the volunteer movement of the Medical Institute “Medical Volunteers” in rehabilitation activities will expand the coverage of the population with preventive measures.
V.M. Kirilina, Director of the Institute of Physical Culture, Sports and Tourism, spoke about the activities that are already being carried out in the Republic of Karelia and about the participation of representatives of the Institute in the framework of rehabilitation of patients with various pathologies of the musculoskeletal system, neurological patients, etc.
Based on the results of the discussion, the representatives of PetrSU supported the initiative of E.V. Shandalovich on combining the efforts of medical and non-medical specialists to create in the Republic of Karelia a rehabilitation system for persons who have undergone COVID-19, as an important component of measures to improve the quality of life of the population of the Republic of Karelia.
The systematization and expansion of the parameters of dynamic monitoring of patients after a coronavirus infection, the development of criteria for assessing and analyzing the manifestations of postcoid changes in the human body, the formation of comprehensive standardized rehabilitation measures based on the results of the analysis will allow to determine the main areas of activity of medical specialists in relation to each patient individually, to expand the spectrum rehabilitation measures with the involvement of specialists of various directions and levels in this process.
