Pearl Alumni showcase at FDCI’s Amazon India Fashion Week, 2018
New Delhi: On the occasion of Pearl Academy celebrating 25 years of creative impact, renowned alumni showcased their collections at the FDCI’s Amazon India Fashion Week at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium.
Designers presented Influence, a showcase by Pearl Alumni that took audiences on a journey of fashion through CRAFT which is the heart of Indian fashion, influence of STREET and CINEMA and WARRIOR featuring futuristic and contemporary style.
This collection was inspired by evolving trends of the fashion industry and how Pearl alumni have contributed the growth of fashion in India over the years. Industry experts, fashion bloggers and media received each design with a loud applause, every time the model sashayed down the ramp.
Among the Pearl Alumi who presented their collections included Nikhil Mehra, Mandira Wirk, Leon Vaz, Rimzim Dadu, Vaishali S, Sumiran Kabir among others.
Some of the best collections that attracted audiences included ‘Yathavat’ which means unchanged by Vashali S whose work are inspired from various traditional weaves from India. The garments are conceived in a manner that does not change the true nature of the textiles.
Mandira Wirk’s creations is a luxury fashion label with an Indo-French sensibility known for classic drapes, pastel color palette, and feminine cuts. She uses a lot of textured Fabric, Cotton, Chanderi, Silk, Crepes, Hammered Satins, tussars, blends, Jamavar, Georgette sari and tissues to create designs that suit the millennium.
Rimzim Dadu’s collections are a living archive of the designer’s innovation through surface textures. Discarding convention, the brand’s design philosophy pays homage to traditional techniques and materials by way of deconstruction, re-engineering and assembly.
Sumiran kabir’s collections represented woman tribe of Sonagachi district as warriors and not victims.
