AMU B. Tech passout receives award

Aligarh: At a time of unprecedented public health crisis when a surge in Covid cases has despaired students and teachers of universities all over the country; Imran Pervez, a B. Tech. (Electrical Engineering) 2020 batch passout of Zakir Husain College of Engineering and Technology (ZHCET), Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) has shown a silver lining by receiving the Typhoon HIL Dissertation Award 2021 (THILDA 2021) under the B. Tech. category.

He has received the award for proposing novel optimization algorithm-based maximum power point tracking (MPPT) techniques in Solar PV System with rapid convergence rate, fewer power fluctuations, and a high stability using the facility of Typhoon HIL-402 emulators. Imran has received a cash prize of Rs 10, 000 along with the award certificate.

Imran published his research in Q1 journals such as IEEE Transactions on Sustainable Energy (IF-7.44) and IEEE Access (IF-3.75). His did research under the guidance of Department of Electrical Engineering faculty members, Dr Mohd Tariq and Dr Adil Sarwar. He completed the B. Tech. final year project under the guidance of Mr Mohammad Zaid (Faculty member, Department of Electrical Engineering).

Congratulating Imran on the achievement, Prof Pervez Mustajab (Dean, Faculty of Engineering and Technology) said that it is a matter of great pride and that these awards

motivate students to perform at national and international levels beyond their regular academic activities.

Prof Salman Hameed (Chairman, Department of Electrical Engineering) said that Imran’s work is exemplary and that the undergraduate students of the department are publishing their research in quality SCI-indexed journals which is an outcome of the efforts of young faculty members.

He applauded Dr Mohd Tariq (Incharge, HIL Lab, EED) for mentoring students to deliver award winning research and for making the best utilisation of Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) technology.
