Young Mathematicians cast their spell at the 04th UCMAS State Level Listening & Flash Competition 2018
Mumbai: CBS Education Pvt Ltd., a Master Franchisee for Universal Concept Mental Arithmetic System (UCMAS) Mumbai region, held its 04th UCMAS State Level Listening & Flash Competition 2018 at University of Mumbai Fort Campus, yesterday.
The audience witnessed child prodigies, between the age group of 06 to 13 years, display their exceptional mathematical skills by computing faster than a computer or a calculator.
More than 900 participants across 10 districts of Maharashtra (Mumbai, Thane, Raigad, Nashik, Dhule, Jalgoan, Nandurbar, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg and Palghar) participated in the competition.
Sanjay Bhoir, Director, CBS Education Pvt Ltd, said, “We saw an amazing participation at the competition. The zealousness was palpable not only among the children but also the parents. This is a good platform for children to showcase their proficiency in abacus and mental arithmetic skill and enhance their listening and visual capacity.”
In the listening challenge, the participants had to listen to the question and answer in 0.6 seconds which is even faster than a calculator. Further, in the visual round, students had to answer on the basis of a visual they saw on the board and answer the query in less than a second. They had to calculate a row of dozen double digit numbers in various values faster than a calculator.
Shreya Chauhan (11 yrs) from UCMAS Bandra has won the Champion of Champions trophy by solving 04 digits and 10 rows calculations.
