AP&FWD Kashmir organises ‘Apiculture Mapping Day’
SRINAGAR : The Agriculture Production & Farmers Welfare Department (AP&FWD) Kashmir today organized Apiculture Mapping Day for mapping of Apiary units spread across the valley in order to formulate a comprehensive policy for promotion of Apiculture in the UT of J&K.
In this regard, Director Agriculture Kashmir Chowdhary Mohammad Iqbal formulated special teams of Joint Directors of Agriculture to monitor the event across the valley.
In this backdrop, comprehensive ceremonies were held all across the 10 districts wherein a large number of beekeepers interacted with the officers and officials of the department.
Experts exhorted upon the officers of the department to motivate youth towards establishment of viable bee keeping units as the sector has good potential to generate income not only in honey production but also the production of by-products like Bee wax, Propolis, Bee Venom and Royal Jelly.
The bee keepers highlighted various problems faced by the bee industry and suggested some measures which are required to be taken by the Agriculture Department for its promotion.
Director Agriculture on this day assured that the department will take every possible measure for the revival and promotion of the sector.
