Siberian Federal University: University rises in the National University Ranking

On 8 July 2021, Interfax Group presented the XII Annual National University Ranking (NUR) for 2021. Siberian Federal University entered the top 20 best universities in Russia, having won one position.

The NUR project assessed the activities of 341 universities in Russia and includes all the status universities: 29 national research universities, 10 federal universities, 33 basic universities, and 21 universities that participated in Project 5-100, and 11 non-state universities.

An expert assessment of the key areas of university activities reflects not only the current state of a university but also determines the prospects for its further development. This year, many federal and regional universities have increased their competitiveness, including through the accelerated digitalization of educational processes and the strengthening of competencies related to new technologies and innovative solutions, said Alexey Gorshkov, executive director of Interfax agency.

The assessment is carried out on the basis of processing the data of questionnaires filled in by representatives of universities, public data posted by educational institutions on their websites, public information resources of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, and data from analytical systems of SPARK-Interfax and SCAN–Interfax.

The activities of universities were assessed according to six parameters: educational activity; research activities; social environment; international and interregional cooperation; brand; innovation and technological entrepreneurship.

The summary ranking is an arithmetic result of six parametric rankings. Each of these six assessed areas is, in fact, a core in the activities of the university. This year, SibFU took the 18th place in the consolidated ranking, having risen by 1 point, said SibFU’s rector Maksim Rumiantsev.
