Govt. Degree college, Sidhra organized an Essay writing competition
Road Safety club of Govt. Degree college, Sidhra organized an Essay writing competition on the theme “Road Safety Measures” to commemorate 75th Independence Day, under the ageis of “ Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav” under the patronage of worthy Principal, Dr Monika Sharma on August 13th, 2021. A number of students from the college participated in this contest. The participants were judged by Prof. Shonima Malhotra , Assistant Professor in Sociology and Prof Deepa Kak, Assistant Professor in Education. The result of which was declared on August 13, 2021 and Sonu Kumar of B.A.Sem-II was adjudged first. Whereas the second position goes to Anamika Verma of B.A Sem II. Third position was shared by Irshad Akhtar and Karsoom Akhtar of B.A Sem-II.
In the Essay Competition, students emphasized the need of taking up of teaching road safety rules and best practices in schools and colleges. People safety on the road is one of the most important aspects in order to avoid road accidents, injury and deaths, weather it is in form of a vehicle or a pedestrian.
Principal, Dr. Monika Sharma congratulated the student participants and stressed the need of organizing more such activities so that students be made more aware of the road safety rules, in order to become good citizens. The event was organized by Prof Harpreet Kaur, convenor, Road Safety club , while it was co-ordinated by Prof Mussarat Chowdhary. Prof Poonam Rani and Prof Satbir kour, members of the Road Safety Club also played a vital role in the contest.
