AMU Faculty delivered a session on Sustainable Tourism Best Practices

 

 

Aligarh : Professor Sheeba Hamid (Coordinator, MTTM, Department of Commerce), Aligarh Muslim University delivered a session on “Sustainable Tourism Best Practices” as a speaker at the 3rd International Conference on Sustainable Tourism (Virtual), 20 – 21 August, on the theme “Corporate Social Responsibility & Sustainable Tourism” organized by Touriosity Travelmag, an international Travel Magazine based at Kolkata.

 

Industry professionals and enthusiasts, professors from academia, achievers and eminent people from the society spoke on the occasion and highlighted the initiatives taken towards this goal by different state governments as well as private parties that are stakeholders in the Tourism Industry.

 

Global standards and best practices of sustainable tourism were highlighted by Professor Sheeba. She spoke about sustainability concept, sustainable destination planning and its benefits, sustainable tourism development and responsible tourism. She added that this trend towards sustainable tourism is due to the global increase in awareness about the environment, culture and community development.

 

Her recommendations in the session mainly focused upon trying to contribute with one’s presence to the development of responsible and sustainable tourism, building with one’s trip a healthier and more solid planet by travelling sustainably.
