Silver Line Prestige School introduces a unique campaign on the occasion of Teacher’s Day

‘Kyunki mein ek teacher hoon’ aims at giving the highest respect to the teacher in the society and making India the number 1 country in the world in respecting teachers Calling teachers across the country to share their videos of stories showcasing the challenges and pride of being a teacher

New Delhi : India was once the world guru and our Guru-Shishya tradition was famous all over the world. But gradually this tradition got lost somewhere. Today there is a need to revive this tradition once again to make India a world leader in respecting its teachers and imparting world-class education to its population. According to ‘Reading Between the Lines: What the World Really Thinks of Teachers’ released by UK-based Varkey Foundation, India ranks sixth when it comes to people’s implicit, unconscious and automatic views on the status of teachers in the country. This new global survey-based report of 35 countries states that India ranks among the top 10 countries in the world to evaluate its teaching workforce. In its endeavour to restore the age-old respect of the teacher’s profession and making India the world’s No. 1 country in respect of Gurus, Silver Line Prestige School, Ghaziabad has introduced a unique online campaign ‘Kyunki mein ek teacher hoon’ on the occasion of Teacher’s Day across social media platforms.

The ‘Kyunki Mein Ek Teacher Hoon’ campaign appeals to all the teachers of the country to present the challenges of their profession as well as the sacrifices made to transport their duty and the pride of being a teacher to the world through their videos. The ‘Kyunki Mein Ek Teacher Hoon’ campaign will narrate the proud stories of the teachers of the country through videos on various social media platforms starting Teachers Day on 5th September.

Speaking about the campaign, Mr. Naman Jain, Education Policy Specialist, and Director, Silver Line Prestige School, Ghaziabad said, “It is not only an important moral duty to respect our teachers, but is also crucial for the successful implementation of the prestigious NEP 2020 and setting new benchmarks for India’s learning outcomes on the global stage. Our ‘Kyunki Mein Ek Teacher Hoon’ campaign is a small initiative in this direction that strives to restore the highest dignity of the teacher’s profession. The conductor of Indian culture, the eminent educationist, and great philosopher Sri Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan once said that “Teachers should be the best minds in the country”. We hope that every citizen and teacher of the country will join this campaign and revive the dream of making India a world leader in the true sense.”

A Unified District Information System for Education (UDISE) report states that the Indian school education system is one of the largest education systems in the world with over 15 lakh schools. According to the annual government estimate, the total number of teachers in 2019-20 was 9.68 million, an increase of over 250,000 compared to the total number of teachers in 2018-19. This increase in the number of teachers is a positive sign as it increases the student-teacher ratio (PTR). The teachers of the country are the pillars of the successful implementation of the new National Education Policy 2020 and they are going to play an important role in making India a ‘Vishwa Guru’. Therefore, it becomes even more imperative for the country to respect its teachers and encourage them at every step.

Participating in the campaign, Ira Salwan, a respected teacher said, “I have had the opportunity & honor to invest in the future of our nation for the last 35 + years. At the rate of 400 students per year, I have invested & learned from over 14000 students in this tenure. It brings immense pleasure and a sense of adrenaline rush when we see our students scoring high & winning various competitions. I feel proud to be nourishing all the little flowers in the garden of education & enjoy the fragrance spread by them across the world. ‘Kyunki Mein Ek Teacher Hoon’ campaign is a unique initiative offering teachers a platform to showcase their pride and honour for this highly respected profession.

The status of a teacher is the highest in society. Society should never forget that every profession involved in nation-building, whether it is a doctor, an engineer, or a soldier guarding the border, a teacher has an important contribution in making them all. The ‘Kyunki Mein Ek Teacher Hoon’ campaign, dedicated to India’s first female teacher Savitri Bai Phule, is also an attempt to highlight the phenomenal contribution of women in the teacher’s profession to the nation. Savitri Bai Phule laid the foundation for women’s education in the 19th century when women were kept away from studies. This year marks the 190th birth anniversary of Savitri Bai Phule and the campaign is also a tribute to a remarkable feminist and social reformer who fought for women’s empowerment and education in India.
