DODA: An awareness camp for women food security groups was today organised by the Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Doda here at Misrata village of Zone Bhalra Tehsil Bhaderwah today.

The programme was organised under SMAE (ATMA) and attended by 25 women farmers of Misrata and adjoining areas.

Sub Divisional Agriculture Officer, Pranoo, Kuldeep Raj Bhasan spoke about the different schemes being implemented in the area.

Assistant Soil Chemist, Zareena spoke about the importance of soil testing and advised the farmers to take up cultivation only after testing the soil of their fields. Apiculture officer Rajeshwar Singh spoke about beekeeping and advised the women farmers to take up the trade to increase their income.

Area marketing officer Doda Sunil Singh spoke about the schemes run by their department.

Progressive farmer Abdul Gaffar also spoke on the occasion and gave a detailed lecture regarding cultivation of lavender and other medicinal plants.

District Agriculture officer, Haroon Hussain spoke at length about the different schemes run for the betterment of the farming community. He advised the farmers to start mushroom cultivation as it can help them to double their farm income.

Sarpanch Misrata presented the vote of thanks and advised the farmers to take the benefit of different schemes.

Later, agriculture implements and growth regulators were also distributed among the women farmers present on the occasion.

Incharge AEO Ajay Kotwal conducted the proceeding of programme. JAEO Arif Sajjad, Rita Kotwal and other staff members were also present on the occasion.
