Maruti Suzuki & LPU hosted ‘Effi-Cycle 2018’ Competition concluded at LPU Campus
Jalandhar: Generating consciousness towards environment friendly mobility solution to global society, Lovely Professional University (LPU) & Maruti Suzuki hosted national green mobility competitive event ‘Efficycle-2018’ at LPU campus. Out of 70 participating teams, including those of IITs and NITs, from across the country; team ‘Green Rangers’ of ‘Sant Longowal Institute of Engineering & Technology (SLIET) Sangrur (Punjab)’ lifted overall trophy of the competition and also won first cash prize of Rs one lakh. LPU engineering students’ team ‘Illuminati Racers’ won the CAE award. This was unique to see that two all girls’ teams also competed hard with their male counterparts. Shrushti of Prof. Ram Meghe Institute of Technology & Research, Amravati (Maharashtra) won best woman participant award. Indeed, the green revolution competition demonstrated a lot of excitement, challenges and practical learning.
In all cash prizes worth Rs 6 Lakh and certificates were distributed to winning teams in different categories of the competitions. Of these, 15 winning teams or individuals were awarded cash prizes from Rs 10,000 to Rs 30,000 each for the Best Design, Innovation, Marketing Presentation, Acceleration, Light Vehicle, Built up Quality, the Best participant and more. 300+ LPU student volunteers, 75+ judges and mentors from the top automotive industry coordinated for smooth conduction of 5-day mammoth event.
LPU Chancellor Mr Ashok Mittal appreciated the best of engineering endeavour and shared: “We want that students should gain more practical knowledge than mere bookish memorization through such largely extended events. I feel that this competition has indeed made all engineering students, those participated from across the country, to learn practically what mobility innovations and solutions present global society requires of them. I also appreciate the commitment and enthusiasm of each and every participating student for exhibiting great team spirit in making the event highly competitive and result oriented.”
This national competitive event was supported by Maruti Suzuki India Ltd (MSIL); Indian Oil Corporation; ICAT; and, Society for Automotive Engineering-Northern India Section (SAENIS). Illustrative, word ‘Effi-Cycle’ has been derived from ‘Efficient-Cycle’ which provides engineering students an opportunity to conceive, design and fabricate a three-wheel configured vehicle powered by human-electric hybrid power. It is capable of seating two passengers catering to the day to day mobility needs. The aerodynamically designed vehicles are engineered for the best green performance & safety.
