Chief Minister Chouhan will dedicate 103 Anganwadi buildings and 10 thousand poshan vatikas on September 21
Bhopal: The State Government is celebrating 20 years of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s welfare and Suraj as a step towards fulfilling the resolve of self-reliant India.In the same sequence, Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan will dedicate the buildings of 103 newly constructed Anganwadi centres in 32 districts of the state and 10 thousand poshan vatikas (nutrition gardens) of 52 districts through video conferencing in a programme to be organised in Khandwa district on September 21.
Chief Minister Shri Chouhan will also provide nutrition rights information sheets to the mothers of 10 thousand children who have come under normal nutritional level from severe malnutrition in 22 districts. In the programme, Chief Minister Shri Chouhan will distribute maternity assistance amounting to Rs 5 crore to 25 thousand pregnant and lactating mothers under the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana. Shri Chouhan will also distribute scholarship amount of Rs 21 crore to about 75 thousand 961 girls of class 6th, 9th, 11th and class 12th under Ladli Laxmi Yojana.
Anganwadi Centres
In the state, 84 thousand 465 Anganwadi centres and 12 thousand 670 mini Anganwadi centres are operating under the Women and Child Development Department. In this, 8 thousand 903 Anganwadi centres are operating in urban areas, 24004 in tribal areas and 51 thousand 558 Anganwadi centres are operating in rural areas.
Poshan Vatika
In the present circumstances, availability of vegetables and fruits in rural and urban areas is a challenge especially for the economically weaker families. Efforts are being made by the Women and Child Development Department that in such circumstances, nutrition gardens should be established by planting easily grown fruits and vegetables at the level of government institutions and families in need. Under the Poshan Abhiyan by the Government of India, instructions have been given to promote diversity at the local level by developing nutrition gardens “Nutri Garden” in local families, communities, Anganwadi centres and other government buildings in the state. Its main motto is “Eat what you plant – plant what you eat”. Under this, about 42 thousand nutrition gardens have been developed in Anganwadi centres operating in government buildings and rented buildings in the state. Besides, 21 thousand nutrition gardens have been prepared in the houses of Anganwadi workers and other places of the villages. A total of 63 thousand nutrition gardens have been created through Anganwadi centres across the state. In the first week of Nutrition Month (September is celebrated as Poshan Maah every year), more than 10 thousand nutrition gardens were developed and more than 3 lakh saplings were planted. Seed kits have been provided to 66 Anganwadi centres by the Ministry of Agriculture & Horticulture, Government of India, through post offices.
Towards well-nourished from malnutrition
Nutrition information sheets will be provided to the mothers of 10 thousand children of the state in the programme 20 years of Jan Kalyan and Suraj. These children have improved from a category of more severe malnourished to a normal nutritional level. For institutional and community based treatment and nutritional management of severely malnourished children in the state, Integrated Nutrition Management Programme is being implemented for moderate and very severe malnourished children from September 2020.
Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana
Madhya Pradesh ranks first at the national level in the implementation of Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana. Under this, Rs. 1055.01 crore has been paid to about 24.54 lakh beneficiaries since the inception of the scheme. The main objective of the scheme is to provide cash incentives to pregnant women in the form of partial compensation for loss of wages, so that they can get adequate rest before and after the delivery of the first child. Under the scheme, an amount of Rs. 5 thousand is provided to the beneficiary in 3 installments.
Ladli Laxmi Yojana
In Madhya Pradesh, Ladli Laxmi Yojana was implemented in the year 2007 with the objective of creating positive thinking among the public towards girl child birth, improving sex ratio, improving the educational level, health status of girls and laying the foundation for their good future. Under the scheme, a girl child born to non-income tax paying parents is given a scholarship of Rs. 2 thousand on admission in class 6th, Rs 4 thousand on class 9th admission, Rs. 6 thousand for class 11th and Rs. 6 thousand on class 12th admission. There is a provision to pay the final amount of one lakh rupees on the condition of the girl child being 21 years of age, appearing in the class 12th examination and the girl’s marriage not being performed before the age of 18 years. Since inception of the scheme, 39.91 lakh girl children have been registered. In the financial year 2021-22 so far, one lakh 10 thousand 752 new girls have been registered. 164 crore scholarships have also been provided to 6 lakh 86 thousand 634 girls since the year 2016-17.
