SSN College of Engineering Celebrates its 21st Graduation Day
Chennai : SSN College of Engineering, a premier technical and management institute in Tamil Nadu, a part of SSN Institutions (the first initiative of the Shiv Nadar Foundation in the field of education), celebrated its 21st Graduation Day. This was the first physical graduation ceremony held at the Institute since the beginning of the pandemic. Dr. B. Venkataraman, Director, IGCAR, Kalpakkam and Dr. Sriman Kumar Bhattacharyya, Vice-Chancellor, Shiv Nadar University Chennai who were the Chief Guests of the ceremony conferred degrees upon 895 graduates. Also, present at the occasion were Dr. Kala Vijayakumar, President, SSN Institutions; Dr. V. E. Annamalai Principal, and Heads of the Department, SSN Institutions.
In his Graduation Day Address, Dr. B. Venkataraman, Director, IGCAR, Kalpakkam spoke highly of SSN institutions and its visionary founder Dr. Shiv Nadar. Congratulating all graduates, distinction holders and rank holders, he highlighted the critical role played by parents and faculty in their all-round development. He said, “The graduation ceremony signifies the commencement of true education and learning. Learning is a lifelong commitment. In these challenging times due to COVID-19, you are the agents of change. India’s economic development and transformation has always been linked to its education and skilling. Only an educated country can aspire to be a developed country. By 2030, India is likely to be the youngest nation in the world with nearly 140 million people ready to enter the portals of higher education institutions. The Indian higher education system needs to elevate itself in the knowledge economy by striking a balance between quality and quantity. A multi-pronged strategy is needed to create institutions that are not only educationally advanced but also develop complete personalities and are hubs of innovation and research excellence. SSN has established itself as a multi-disciplinary, research-intensive institution carving a niche for itself.”
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Kala Vijayakumar, President, SSN Institutions said, “At SSN we believe in the 360-degree development of students. In addition to a sound grounding in academics, we promote exposure to various extra-curricular activities and sports in the institution which helps develop today’s students into world-class socially responsible citizens of tomorrow. It is very satisfying to see the students placed in various meritorious positions across a wide spectrum of engineering, manufacturing, IT industries and Government services.”
In 2021, more than 240 leading organizations across sectors visited the campus and rolled out over 1200 offers to the students. Over 95% of graduating students of this year are on their way to join organizations including but not limited to Google, Amazon, PayPal, Goldman Sachs, Citi, Barclays, Optum, McKinsey, Hyundai, Cognizant, Infosys, TCS and HCL.
SSN also announced that a substantial number of students have received admission offers from top institutions and universities across the world for their further education. Some of these institutions include Harvard University, Oxford University and Stanford University among many others.
