Awareness camp on BBBP held at Verinag
ANANTNAG : On the occasion of International Girl Child Day, a one day awareness camp on Beti Bachao Beti Padhao was held at Verinag today, here.
The programme was organised by Project Office ICDS, Larkipora in collaboration with Tehsil Legal Services Committee Doru.
Along with other events, such programmes also form an important component of the ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’ celebrations wherein 75 years of the country’s independence are being commemorated.
Munsif Judicial Magistrate, Chairman Tehsil Legal Services Committee, Doru, Lakshay Badyal, CDPO, Larkipora, Senior Prosecution Officer, Supervisors, Advocates, Angandi Workers and Helpers, besides other officials and functionaries of ICDS and Tehsil Court attended the camp.
On the occasion, the resource persons apprised the participants about different aspects and dimensions of the BBBP Campaign. Elaborate lectures were delivered on the topic wherein stress was laid on educational, social and economic upliftment and empowerment of womenfolk.
During the camp, the resource persons explained the definition and types of abuses committed against women besides the legal remedies available to address those. They highlighted the role of various stakeholders like government agencies, judiciary, police, social activists, NGOs and others for ensuring protection, medical and legal aid besides justice and rehabilitation of the victims.
To achieve the desired results, the participants were impressed upon to equip themselves with adequate knowledge of the relevant provisions of law and perform their role vis a vis BBBP Campaign with commitment and determination.
