Ural Federal University: University Successfully Develops Engineering and Computer Sciences
In the new Times Higher Education subject rankings, UrFU is in the 601-800 group for Computer Sciences and the 801-1000 group for Engineering.
“This is a decent result, given the ever-increasing competition among the world’s leading universities. We are trying to improve, to become stronger and more attractive on a global scale. In the development of engineering and computer science, close cooperation with industrial partners is essential. Such interaction allows adapting educational programs to employers’ needs as well as successfully implementing advanced scientific developments at enterprises,” says Alexander Germanenko, Vice Rector for Science at Ural Federal University.
Alexander Germanenko adds that progress in promoting engineering and computer sciences will be achieved through the activities of the World-Class Interregional Research and Education Center (UIREC) “Advanced Industrial Technologies and Materials”. The center was created to combine the potential of educational and scientific organizations of the real sector of the Sverdlovsk, Chelyabinsk, and Kurgan regions. Ural Federal University performs as the UIREC project office.
