Ural Federal University: University Students Won Gold Medals at Urban Skills 2021

Ural Federal University Institute of Civil Engineering and Architecture third year students Daria Boiko, Renata Gabdullina and Melanya Zykova won gold medals at the First National Industry Championship by WorldSkills standards in the field of urban planning and urbanism (Urban Skills) “Urbanism: Urban Planning”.

From October 4 to 9, about 60 employees of small, medium and large businesses, as well as students of Russian colleges and universities aged 18 to 49 years old demonstrated their skills in 11 competencies. Aleksey Orlov, the mayor of Ekaterinburg, visited the site of the event. Participants of teams designed and presented projects to experts of “Worldskills Russia” and the chief architect of Ekaterinburg Alexey Molokov.

Ural Federal University students competed in the competence “Urbanism: Urban Planning”. Their rivals were teams from Magnitogorsk State Technical University and Samara State Technical University. This competence is aimed at qualitative research of citywide territories and the creation of a plan for the development of convenient infrastructure for residents. The gold medalists in this competence were representatives of UrFU. For the highest number of points (541) the team received a special prize – a brick, which became the basis of the foundation for the first Urban Skills.
