LMU: Monika Aidelsburger receives prestigious research prizes
LMU physicist Professor Monika Aidelburger will receive not one, but two highly regarded prizes for her research achievements over the next three weeks. On 28 October, she will be presented with the Alfried-Krupp-Förderpreis, the award of which was announced in June.
On 18 November, she will accept the Klung-Wilhelmy Science Prize for Physics 2021 at a ceremony in Berlin. She receives this second award for her experimental realization of synthetic gauge fields in optical lattices, and their use in the context of quantum simulations of topological phases of matter. The Klung-Wilhelmy Science Prize for Physics is intended for researchers under the age of 40. It was instituted by the Otto Klung Foundation and first awarded in 1973. Thanks to the Klung Foundation’s cooperation with the Dr. Wilhelmy Foundation, which began in 2007, it is now one of the most highly endowed privately funded research prizes in Germany.
The award ceremony takes place under the patronage of the Federal Minister for Science, Anja Karliczek.
