Peking University Holds Emerging Engineering International Forum

Peking University, November 5, 2021: The Peking University Emerging Engineering International Forum of 2021 was held in Zhongguanyuan Global Village Lecture Hall on Oct 22, 2021. Many academician and scholars in the field, along with more than 70 teachers and students of Peking University College of Engineering, attended the meeting.

A new round of scientific and technological revolution and industrial reform will form a historic intersection with the development of human society. Emerging engineering is not only a strategic action proposed by China with the goal of serving the national strategy but also a key step in promoting world scientific and technological progress, the development of the international community and build a community with a shared future for mankind. In order to further boost the study of emerging engineering, deepen global exchanges and promote international cooperation, Peking University held the first

Peking University Emerging Engineering International Forum. With the theme of “new era, new challenges and new engineering”, PKU invited leading scholars in relevant fields to attend.

There were many insightful discussions and speeches shared during the forum. Vice President Huang Ru pointed out that Peking University attaches great importance to engineering construction and has a fine tradition, profound heritage and solid foundation. Dean Duan Huiling said that the Peking University Emerging Engineering International Forum provides a good communication platform for the College of Engineering in promoting the future development of emerging engineering. Academician Bao Weimin made an online report on the topic of ” the exploration and development of Earth-Moon space”. Academician Lu Bingheng gave a speech on industrial machine tool and intelligent manufacturing. Professor Jacob Fish summarized the cutting-edge progress of multi-scale calculation methods and their applications in composite related engineering fields, introduced the development of professional software multiscale designer, and put forward detailed suggestions on how to implement academia in industry.

At the end, Liu Moubin thanked the speakers for sharing their thoughts, and hoped for the reunion of all participants at the meeting next year.
