Vodafone Idea Foundation and Common Service Centres Academy Flag-Off a Mobile Van to Promote Digital and Financial Literacy
New Delhi: On the occasion of World Computer Literacy Day, Vodafone Idea Foundation (VIF), the CSR arm of Vi, and the CSC Academy, under the Ministry of Electronics and IT (MeitY), today flagged-off a mobile van at the CSC-held ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ to take the Government of India’ digital literacy movement another step forward.
At the event, Mr. P Balaji, Chief Regulatory & Corporate Affairs Officer, VIL and Director, Vodafone Idea Foundation, handed over a placard to CSC Academy in the presence of Shri Ajay Sawhney, Secretary, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, and other dignitaries. The flag-off was accompanied by village entrepreneurs from across the country who also participated in the event.
The inaugurated van will travel across the country to various townships & communities imparting knowledge and training on basic digital and financial literacy skills. As part of the Government of India’s flagship programme for digital inclusion, PMGDISHA (Pradhan Mantri Gramin Digital Saksharta Abhiyaan), Vodafone Idea Foundation has been driving the Jaadu Ginni Ka programme with the support of CSC Academy to spread awareness on financial literacy.
Jaadu Ginni Ka is Vodafone Idea Foundations’ flagship programme in the domain of financial literacy and has impacted more than 1 crore people – almost half of them women – across the country. It has previously supported deployment of 21 mobile vans with the aim to take financial and digital literacy to grassroots level.
