DFO Ramban tours Neel, Chamalwas & Banihal area to review wildfire control measures

RAMBAN : Divisional Forest Officer, Ramban, Dr Rajan Singh conducted an extensive tour of Neel, Chamalwas and Banihal to take stock of increasing forest fire incidents in these areas.

The DFO was accompanied by the Range Officer Banihal Sajad Hussain.

The DFO interacted with locals and PRIs and appealed them to help Forest Department officials in prevention of the forest fires. He said that due to the extension of the dry season in absence of rain/snowfall, the forest has become vulnerable to forest fires and forest and FPF officials are working day and night to contain these incidents along with locals.

He also hailed the assistance rendered by the PRIs and locals in extinguishing and containing fire incidents. He further warned that to kindle, keep or to carry fire in forest area is an offense under Indian Forest Act and punishable and requested locals to help the department in tracing the culprits.
