NMC approves M.Ch. seats at JNMC

Aligarh : The National Medical Commission (NMC) has approved two seats of M.Ch. (Neurosurgery) from the session 2021-22 at J N Medical College of Aligarh Muslim University. The letter of permission for starting the course M.Ch. Neurosurgery course for two seats as per available seats with prospective effect has been issued by the Member/President, Medical Assessment and Rating Board, NMC.

Vice Chancellor, Prof Tariq Mansoor, who had earlier pursued the issue of sanctioning super specialty seats in Neurosurgery stream, expressed happiness over the decision. “We are committed to provide the best facilities at J N Medical College. The approval of M.Ch. seats in Neurosurgery will further augment the super specialty services for the patients,” Prof Mansoor said.

Department of Neurosurgery is the third department of J N Medical College which has been granted sanction for the super specialty programme. Earlier the Department of Plastic Surgery and the Department of Cardiology have also been granted approval to run M.Ch. program.

“We have fulfilled all the criteria and facilities required for running M.Ch. program in Neurosurgery. Several visits by the inspection teams have cleared our proposal. This will go a long way in strengthening the medical services of the region,” Prof Mansoor said.

The Medical Assessment and Rating Board (MARB) of NMC has considered the Assessor’s report and the recommendations of the PG Expert Group on the physical and other teaching facilities available at J N Medical College gave the approval for two M.Ch. seats in Neurosurgery.

“We have received the Letter of Intent from MARB and soon other formalities for commencing the session will be formally done from session 2021-22,” Prof Mansoor said.

Dean, Faculty of Medicine, Prof Rakesh Bhargava, Principal JNMC Prof S A Siddiqui, Chairman, Department of Neurosurgery, Prof Rama Mohan Sharma, and other senior faculty members of the University have expressed their gratitude for Vice Chancellor Prof Tariq Mansoor for his untiring efforts for commencing M.Ch. course at Neurosurgery. “The approval of two seats at Neurosurgery is hard earned and it will further improve our medical facilities. We extend our gratitude towards the Vice Chancellor and all other officials,” Prof Bhargava said.
