Palaj, Gandhinagar: Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar (IITGN) food mess and welfare council organized a painting competition with a unique theme “Love Food. About 35 registered participants, including students, staff, faculty and their family members, from age of 4 to 40s participated in the event and showed their talent in the form of painting for this important cause. Several millions of people around the world die because of hunger and hence, this event was conceived to inculcate the habit of not wasting food in entire IITGN community. The selected paintings will have their place in the Institute’s dining halls in the mess to promote awareness.
Expressing his observations from the event, Anshul Shivhare, Welfare Secretary and a student of IITGN, said, “The paintings by little kids were like a mirror to our careless attitude towards the food wastage. All the participants very well conveyed the message of ‘Not to waste food’ in different ways.”
Mayank Kamle, Mess Secretary, Mess Secretary and a student of IITGN, said, “According to world hunger statistics, around 795 million people in the world do not have enough food to live a healthy life and yet, on the contrary, we take more food than our capacity in our plate ending up in the bins.
