United IPR Organizes Conference on ‘Best Practices in IPR’ on World IP Day

New Delhi: United IPR, country’s leading full-service Intellectual Property firm known for its IPR prosecution, litigation, entrepreneurial and operational skills today organised a conference on ‘Best Practices in IPR’ in association with PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry at PHD House, New Delhi on World IP Day. The conference was graced by Mr NR Meena, Dy. Controller of Patents and Design, Office of Controller General of Patents, Designs and Trade Marks and Mr. DC Sahu, Deputy Director, MSME-DI.

The Conference discussed the scenario of the present day level of IP awareness in the country how we have come a far away in the field of product patents and designs.

Delivering the welcome inaugural address, Sanjay Aggarwal, Vice President, PHD Chamber said, “Earlier there was not much awareness on the subject of IP and issues related to it but now it has grown up tremendously. An innovator his innovation means a lot and if of great value to him and he has the concern that it can be copied and needs to be protected. Growth of the Indian economy too has helped raise awareness levels on IP in the country. I am sure innovators, manufacturers, students and others have benefitted greatly from the extensive exchange of views and ideas.”

Speaking about initiatives taken in regards to IPR Mr. NR Meena, Dy. Controller of Patents and Design, Office of Controller General of Patents, Designs and Trade Marks, said, “This year we will organize 65 events with various industry bodies across the country to raise awareness on IP. India is now at 6th position in the field of IPR in the world and this has been possible because of the efforts of the Government of India in harmonizing and bringing transparency in the system and processes. Today we have paperless offices and applications can be filed online.”

Delivering the keynote address Mr. DC Sahu, Joint Development Commissioner, Office of DC MSME, said, “I am happy to we have lot of schemes and grants that the MSMEs can benefit from. We also doing lot of IPR campaigns, awareness and sensitization programmes. We are here to help and anyone can approach us for any help on MSME issues.”

Talking about the IP Industry in India, Mr Shravan Kumar Bansal, Senior Partner, United IPR added, “IP laws in India are far better than other countries except that we don’t have our data compiled. There has been extensive growth in the IPR regime in the last two decades including digitization and today our IP laws are very advanced.

The conference organised to foster innovation in the field of IP also featured a session on the ‘Role of IP in Legal Education and Development of MSMEs and Start-ups’. The session was chaired by Dr HP Kumar, Advisor PHD Chamber and Former CMD, NSIC. The panelists included Mr. Anand Prakash Mishra, Director of Law Admissions, OP Jindal Global University; Dr. Raman Mittal, Faculty of Law, Delhi University; Prof. (Dr) Mohd Salim, Director of Lloyd College, Noida; Prof (Dr) CJ Rawandewale, Director, Symbiosis Law School, Noida; Mr. Sandeep Agarwal, Director, Adsastra IP and Mr Gaurav Gogia, Senior Associate, United IPR.

The conference also saw participation from legal fraternity and industry from Delhi NCR region. This included senior lawyers, law faculty members, students and senior officials from law enforcement agencies.
