IIT (BHU) Varanasi and Niigata University, Japan Join Hands To Strategize Academic and Research Cooperation
Varanasi : IIT (BHU) Varanasi and Niigata University, Japan have signed an agreement recently to promote exchange and cooperation in education, joint research, holding of lectures and symposiums and participation of students/faculty members. This academic and research collaboration will likely bring two friendly nations closer and encourage students to be selected and nominated by the home university/institution. Furthermore, both parties shall endeavor to ensure that an equal number of students are exchanged and participated.
To select students for the exchange program, the parties shall establish procedures and selection of exchange students based on their academic achievements. During the meeting, both prestigious institutes also discussed the acquisition and recognition of credits. Additionally, the host university/institution shall waive examination fee, entrance fees, and tuition fees for exchange students.
During an online agreement, Director of IIT (BHU) Varanasi, Prof. Pramod Kumar Jain and President of the Niigata University, Prof. Tatsuo Ushiki mentioned that this initiative will help to establish strong collaboration between two institutes. They also highlighted the need for strong academic partnerships between the two institutions. Prof. S.B Dwivedi, Dean (Academic Affairs) presented academic courses offered by the IIT (BHU) and highlighted some unique courses and discussed the old heritage of the IIT(BHU). The Dean (R&D), Prof. Vikash Kumar Dubey, followed with a detailed presentation.
During the virtual meeting, Prof. Nozomu TSUBOI, Vice President, Global Engagement, Niigata University Japan also gave a detailed presentation on the background of the University, collaborations, how to start student exchange in the pandemic and post-pandemic situation, and existing collaborations with different Indian Universities/Institutions. Prof. Takamasa Suzuki gave a detailed presentation on the different research activities in Optics-Photonics instrumentation and bio-medical instrumentation. A presentation followed this by Prof. M. Satish Kumar from the Niigata University on the areas such as Condensed matter, Material Science & Technology, Biomedical, Seismic response etc. Finally, the Director of IIT (BHU) and the President Niigata University emphasized a need to build a strong collaboration with active participation of students and faculties.
