Ural Federal University: University Honored the Memory of Soldiers-Internationalists
A rally in memory of soldiers-internationalists was held in the Alley of Memory at Ural Federal University. The event was attended by cadets and employees of the UrFU Military Training Center, as well as the university’s leaders and veterans.
“We honor the memory of all those who gave their civil and patriotic duty far beyond the borders of the country. Since the end of the Great Patriotic War, our servicemen have participated in more than 30 military conflicts. Each such conflict was a place of deeds of many of our fellow countrymen including students of Ural Federal University”, noted Dmitry Bugrov, First Vice-Rector of Ural Federal University, at the rally.
The memorial day of soldiers-internationalists is celebrated annually on February 15. The official date coincides with the withdrawal of Soviet troops from Afghanistan 33 years ago and is designed to honor the memory of all Russians who performed their duty outside the homeland.
Also today in Yekaterinburg mourning meeting at the Black Tulip memorial took place. The laying of flowers was attended by officers and cadets of the military training center of UrFU.
The rally was a part of the Defender of the Fatherland month. February will also see a ceremonial meeting to mark Fatherland Defender’s Day and the tenth graduation of lieutenants. The events are organized by the UrFU Military Training Center.
