Next-gen healthcare models in focus at ISB HealthScape 2022
New Delhi: HealthScape 2022 – the Indian School of Business (ISB)’s flagship healthcare conference co-organised by the students of the Advanced Management Programme for Healthcare (AMPH) and the Post Graduate Programme (PGP) Healthcare Club – under the mentorship of ISB’s Max Institute of Healthcare Management (MIHM) – successfully concluded recently. Focused on the theme of ‘Next-generation models in healthcare’, the conference brought together 10 CXOs and 4 academics to deliberate on the new-age models for population health and technology for health.
Dr. Harish Pillai, CEO, Metro Pacific Hospital Holdings, Philippines in his keynote address talked about the tea leaf reading perspective, shared the sweet and sour lessons from the pandemic, and discussed the tech trends for the post-pandemic world. He also spoke about the brick-to-click model and how powerful it is for the healthcare sector. He concluded, “The home-stretch space in India is very exciting with several emerging players and is going to be a gamechanger catapulting India into a pole position.”
The panel discussion on “Technology-led models in healthcare” had ISB PGP Co 2008 alumna Jayshree Kanther Patodi, Co-founder & Partner, Enzia Ventures; Randeep Singh, Co-founder & CSO, Meddo-Doxper; and Dr. Ashwini Kumar Setya, Senior Consultant Gastroenterologist & Hepatologist and Medicolegal Consultant discuss the shift of healthcare from physical to digital, potential of technology in healthcare, pitfalls, and the way forward. This session was moderated by Prof. Madhu Vishwanathan, Senior Assistant Professor, Marketing & Research Director – IIDS, ISB.
In the second panel, Dr. Bhawna Sharma, India Lead Consultant, Resolve to Save Lives and ISB alumni Jagdeep Gambhir, CEO & Cofounder, Karma Healthcare and Rishabh Chopra, Lead – Strategy and Partnerships Development (SA), PATH discussed “New-age models in population health”. Moderated by Prof. Raghuram Bommaraju, Senior Assistant Professor, Marketing, ISB, the speakers deliberated how to make healthcare accessible to large populations by public-private collaboration. The speakers shared key insights from evidence-based examples they have/are implementing at their organisations to impact population-level health outcomes.
The last leg of discussions focussed on “Leapfrogging from traditional hospitals to digital-first models”. Dr. Dhruv Joshi, Cofounder & CEO, Cloudphysician; Prashant Singh, Director & CIO, Max Healthcare; and Suman Katragadda, Global CEO, HEAPS.ai emphasized that leadership vision, organisational culture, and appropriate change management methods are key to reap maximum benefits from digital transformation in healthcare at lower costs. The discussions were moderated by Prof. Vijaya Sunder M, Assistant Professor (Practice), Operations Management, ISB.
Prof. Sarang Deo, Executive Director, MIHM and Professor & Area Leader, Operations Management, ISB in his closing remarks said, “The healthcare sector is evolving rapidly now. For healthcare organisations to succeed, the technological transformation needs to be accompanied by process transformation, and people transformation which could then be embedded in a business model that is sustainable. Also, we cannot transplant ideas from other countries when it comes to value-based care. Thus, it becomes imperative to fundamentally rethink ideas before implementing them directly when it comes to new business models.
ISB HealthScape 2022 brought together over 550 professionals from around 19 countries from various areas of the healthcare industry such as clinicians, healthtech startups, academicians, insurance/medtech companies, pharmaceuticals, and diagnostics.
