Seminar on World Health Day

 

Aligarh : “Deteriorating climate of urban landscape has adversely affected human life. It is necessary to plant more trees and safeguard them so that ecological balance is restored and all living beings have sustainable future”, said Prof B. K. Chaudhary, (Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi), while delivering keynote address on Urban Health: Issues and Challenges, in the National Seminar organised by the University Eco Club of Cultural Education Centre, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) on World Health Day.

Prof Chaudhary deliberated upon the issues of deteriorating health of urban dwellers due to changing patterns of climate of cities and suggested several corrective measures.

Delivering the inaugural address, Prof Saira Mehnaz, Chairperson, Department of Community Medicine, AMU, highlighted the significance of the World Health Day and introduced the theme of the seminar “Our Planet, Our Health”.

Prof. Mohammad Rihan, Member Incharge, Green University Project, Centre for Integrated Green and Renewable Energy, AMU discussed the condition of planet earth and challenges of global climate change.

Dr. Shariq Aqil, Chief Medical Officer, University Health Service discussed the health status of Indians in particular and humans at large in the era of epidemics and pandemics, and coping strategies in the post pandemic world.

Dr. Rinku Sharma, Joint Director, National Centre for Vector Borne Disease Control delivered a lecture on the impact of diseases on human health.

Dr. Ali Jafar Abedi, President, University Eco Club delivered the welcome address.

Prof. F. S. Sherani, Coordinator, Cultural Education Centre, AMU proposed the vote of thanks.
