First harvest of Bottle gourd, Bitter gourd begins at Krishi Bhawan Jammu

 

JAMMU : Director Agriculture Production & Farmers Welfare Jammu, K. K. Sharma today inaugurated the first harvesting of Bottle gourd & Bitter gourd being grown under Bower System here at Krishi Bhawan Talab Tillo.

Different exotic and high value vegetable crops are being grown under Vegetable Improvement Scheme (VIS) using advanced vegetable cultivation practices for demonstration and popularization among the farmers.

Joint Director Agriculture (Inputs), A.S.Reen, Joint Director (Apiculture & Mushrooms), R. K. Hitashi, Agronomist (Vegetable Improvement Scheme), J. C. Raina, Floriculture Development Assistant, Rohit Singh Balloria, Farm Manager JPAE Farm, ArunJaral besides others were present on the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion, the Director Agriculture stressed upon the officers to promote the production of exotic and high value vegetables under protected and controlled conditions to get round the year production with high returns.

Agronomist (Vegetables), J. C. Raina apprised the visiting officers regarding various interventions and activities being undertaken under Vegetable Improvement Scheme (VIS).

Later, the Director Agriculture also inspected the vegetable crops medicinal & aromatic plants, flower Seedlings and flower Seed Crops grown under Naturally Ventilated Polygreen House (NVPGH) besides other interventions demonstrated under Vegetable Improvement Scheme.
